World Habitat day
The Habitat Group celebrated World Habitat Day was by on 2nd of October in the presence of the honorable chief minister Sri VS Achutanandan, honorable minister for forest and education Sri Benoy Viswom and many other prominent guests from different walks of life. This event also marked the successful completion of the pilot project of providing permanent houses to the poor started last year. On this occasion the chief minister handed over the keys of to the owners of the houses built newly by the group. The chief minister was vivid in his appreciation for the work done by the Habitat Group and wished it success for its future endeavors. Habitat group had taken the initiative to build two houses for poor families and the foundation stone had been laid by Sri Benoy Viswom on the occasion of World Habitat Day last year.

Rebuilding Veerapakupathy

Victims of 2004 Tsunami have been successfully rehabilitated in the new village constructed as a joint venture between the community and the funding agency Architecture and Development.

This is one of the first rehabilitation village that came up in Tamilnadu.
